A compilation of recordings from the Winter Warmer Community Cohesion concert at Jubilee Library, Brighton on the 27th January 2024. Artists on the day come from a wide range of heritages and background and are all part of the Brighton, Hove and Sussex community.
The event was incredibly well supported on the day, with people from across the community attending. The Ukrainian Children's choir had not performed in public before and it was only the second public performance by the Syrian children's choir. Dina, Polina, Jamal and Alaa also played in public for the first time together. Both duo's had been on the same bill several times, so had met and chatted. We'd discussed the idea of a Ukrainian, Syrian fusion, then in July 2023, Dina, Alaa and Jamal worked together on a project with Music Action International, where they's all played Jamal's song Salaamun and a Ukrainian song. They'd all had one rehearsal together before this gig, and Dina and Polina only met the Syrian Children's choir in the morning of the gig. We hope there can all play more together in future.
