These recordings were made at The Smokehouse in Ipswich, with the kind support of Ipswich Community Media.

Big thanks to all the musicians for being such a great bunch of people to work with and of course their excellent music.

Nqobile is originally from Zimbabwe, he plays Marimba, Mbira and sings. He also runs music and dance workshops.

Ammar Awtani is from Syria and now lives in Ipswich, the songs are love songs, sang in Arabic.

Mohammed arrived in the UK from Iraq less than a month before these recordings were made. He has only just started to learn English. We were contacted by Suffolk Refugee Support, who explained he was keen to take part. It was difficult to exactly translate the title of his song, but it was about the love and richness of life in Iraq.

Adilson and Gapa are originally from Portugal. Gapa is a music celebrity with a large following.
